Wood County woman arrested in murder for hire plot

VIENNA, W.Va. — A Wood County woman is in police custody after allegedly hiring someone to kill her husband.

Amy Mayhugh accused of hiring someone to murder husband.

Parkersburg police arrested Amy Yvonne Mayhugh, 41, of Vienna, Wednesday evening after an all-day investigation into an alleged murder for hire plot.

Through the investigation, detectives learned that Mayhugh wanted to have her husband killed for the
purpose of collecting insurance money. Investigators were able to recover evidence allegedly supporting those findings.

The cooperating individual also told police that Mayhugh gave them a Rolex watch as partial payment for going through with the plot.
