Three arrested after Nicholas County home searched

WERTH, W.Va. — After serving a search warrant at a Nicholas County residence, police made a big discovery that resulted in three arrests.

Donnell Diego, 33, of Werth, Jimmy Crockett, 52, of California and Jermaine Baker, 31, of Charleston were arrested Monday in Werth.

Officers with the Central West Virginia Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force searched the home and found $180,000 in cash, 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine valued at $5,200, 1 ounce of black tar heroin valued at $2,800 and 1 ounce of marijuana valued at $280. Several loaded weapons were also seized, including rifles and fully automatic machine guns. In addition, police seized eight vehicles which are valued at $150,000.

The warrant was issued as a result of a lengthy investigation into illegal narcotics and several controlled narcotics purchases taking place at the residence in Werth.

While searching the home, police said they noticed the homeowner, Diego, drive by and then speed off. A police pursuit ensued by Nicholas County deputies where Diego tried to run over multiple deputies with his vehicle. Shots were fired by officers and Diego eventually lost control of his vehicle. No one was hurt in the chase.

All three men are currently sitting in the Central Regional Jail.
