Nashville country rock band got their start in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A country rock band based out of Nashville has roots in West Virginia.

The Adairs Run band, made up of four members, got their start in Huntington six years ago and are now ready to release new music next month after opening for several well-known artists including Lady Antebellum, Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Hunt, Florida Georgia Line, Nelly and more.

Todd Hanchock, the group’s lead singer and guitarist, is originally from Princeton. He said the band began playing at local coffee houses, open mic nights and acoustic shows in the Huntington area and eventually throughout West Virginia and Virginia. One show lead to another, which then resulted in their move to Nashville where they met American Idol alum Chris Daughtry.

The four-member group includes Todd Hanchock, Pat Pollifrone, Chad Yarger and Mark Caldwell.

“We write with a lot of other rockers down here. We write with Three Doors Down and Daughtry, the band, pretty regularly about once a week. We actually have a song coming up on the EP that features Chris Daughtry on it,” Hanchock said of the song called “Wildheart.”

The new EP album called “Turn Back Miles” is scheduled to be released May 6 with preorders available Apr. 13. Hanchock said their goal is to release a full album by the end of this year.

Hanchock said his story began in West Virginia, so he likes to draw from his time growing up in the Mountain State.

“The experiences of a small town, growing up where everybody knows everybody, at first you’re like man, I hate this. I want to go somewhere where no body knows me, start fresh and whatnot, but those are the experiences that end up bringing the most value to you,” he said.

The band has been touring across the East Coast and in the Mid West for the last few years, but Hanchock said they plan on playing nationally.

“We’re expanding out across the U.S. I’d say our biggest goal is trying to get every state within the next year,” he said.
