Mooney says protesters should move on

WASHINGTON, D.C. — West Virginia Second District Congressman Alex Mooney says those protesting the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States need to move on.

2nd District Congressman Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.) said Trump still best choice.
2nd District Congressman Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.) said protesting isn’t going to do any good.

Mooney, during an appearance Friday on MetroNews “Talkline”, said those involved in certain protests that have gotten out of hand with destruction of property and other riotous behavior need to stop.

“It seems like the folks who lost need to accept the election results,” Mooney said. “Protesting isn’t going to do any good. The election is over.”

Trump blamed the media for inciting professional protesters in a early morning tweet Friday but later tweeted in a friendlier tone.

“Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. We will all come together and be proud!”

Mooney said he favors the second tweet more than the first one but he believes that’s one of the reasons why Trump was elected–he’s not a politician and he speaks his mind.

“Everyone thought this stuff would hurt him and it didn’t. It might have helped him win the election,” Mooney said. “People saw the real person, they forgave his indiscretions and they voted for him.”

Mooney won a second term Tuesday easily outdistancing Democrat Mark Hunt by 40,000 votes. Mooney won 15 of 17 counties in the district.
