MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — If getting to the postseason was half the fun, West Virginia hopes the next half is equally entertaining.
While the field is set for the Road to Omaha, the Mountaineers baseball team is focused only on the road to Winston-Salem, where Friday’s regional opens.
“You start putting the cart before the horse and the next thing you know, you go two-and-barbecue,” coach Randy Mazey said.
“There are so many distractions that are involved around playing in the postseason. Because we’ve never done it before here, all of a sudden, we‘re taking two buses to Winston-Salem instead of one. We’ve got a lot of fans that are asking for tickets. Text messages are blowing up, and everybody’s telling you how great you are. You start listening to that stuff and it’ll catch up to you in a hurry.”
