W.Va. foresters, firefighters leave to battle Rocky Mountain fires

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Forestry announced Saturday a 20-person team would be sent to the Rocky Mountains to assist in battling wildfires.

The crew consists of 14 state foresters and six volunteer firefighters.

Members departed Saturday morning to a rendezvous point in Pennsylvania before flying to Colorado.

The wildfire has already spread across 110 square miles in California, threatening at least 1,500 homes.
