Fenwick man charged with shooting in Nicholas County

NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. — A shooting reported around 1 a.m. Thursday in Nicholas County led to the arrest of a Fenwick man, according to deputies with the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department.

Rahsaan Strayhorn, 42, of Fenwick, was being held in the Central Regional Jail on charges of child neglect, malicious wounding and wanton endangerment.

Strayhorn allegedly shot a woman, age 27, during some kind of domestic situation. The woman sought help from neighbors.

When 911 was called, emergency officials were told a young child was being held by Strayhorn in the home where the shooting happened.

Deputies were able to arrest Strayhorn.

Investigators said the child, who was not hurt, was turned over to the custody of Child Protective Services.

The woman was being treated at Summersville Regional Medical Center for a leg bullet wound.
