Softball: Magruder steps down at defending A champ Wheeling Central

WHEELING, W.Va. — Two-time defending Class A softball state champion Wheeling Central Catholic is undergoing an early season coaching change after Rick Magruder stepped down this week.

Magruder has been recovering from open heart surgery since the fall of this past year.

The coaching veteran was at the helm for 18 years and led the Maroon Knights to a 33-0 perfect season in 2016.

Buck Davidson has been tabbed as Central Catholic’s interim head coach.
