Offensive lineman Brandon Yates commits to West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Tweeting that he is “150 percent committed,” Rivals two-star offensive lineman Brandon Yates of Las Vegas pledged to West Virginia on Wednesday night over offers from Utah, Washington State, Arizona State, UNLV and Boise State.

At 6-foot-5 and only 250 pounds, Yates has a frame that coaches believe can develop into an agile tackle. Described as a raw prospect by recruiting analysts, he’s the 18th commitment in West Virginia’s 2019 class and the third offensive lineman.

Yates camped at WVU during July, plans to take an official visit to Morgantown in December and wants to enroll next summer.

“I’m done with it. No more calls or anything,” Yates told Rivals writer Keenan Cummings.

Rivals currently ranks the Mountaineers’ class 33rd nationally.
