2nd fatal motorcycle accident occurs over three-day period in Monroe County

PETERSTOWN, W.Va. — A motorcyclist was killed during the weekend, after his vehicle hit a trailer towing a mobile home in Monroe County, according to a statement released Monday by the county sheriff’s office.

Investigators say Coy Stanley, 43, of Radford, Va., died at the scene, following the accident Saturday on State Route 12 between Peterstown and Cashmere.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case to determine whether charges will be filed against the other driver.

The incident was the second fatal crash near Peterstown involving a motorcyclist in three days. On April 4, a motorcycle traveling on U.S. Route 219 reportedly crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck in the opposite lane. The victim, later identified as Kenneth Mosley, Jr., 46, of Peterstown, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.
