Charlotte-bound plane makes emergency landing at Yeager Airport

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Officials at Yeager Airport said a plane heading to Charlotte turned around and made an emergency landing at the airport Saturday afternoon.

The PSA Airlines CRJ-700 aircraft with 60 people on-board left Yeager at 3:33 p.m. At 3:51 p.m. the pilot contacted the airport and said the plane was having landing gear problems. He returned to Yeager and landed safely.

After receiving the initial call, Yeager put one of its emergency plans into place. The airport had emergency vehicles and emergency personnel on the runway when the plane landed.

“I would to thank all of the first responders who quickly answered the call and responded to the airport,” Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper said.
