CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Weather won’t cause a problem for Christmas travelers. In fact, the holiday weather is going to provide a good opportunity for anyone getting a bicycle for Christmas to take a ride.
Mild and dry conditions will continue in West Virginia Tuesday and Wednesday, according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Nick Webb.
“We should get into the low 60s depending on how many low clouds we have to deal with,” Webb said.
The jet stream is bottled up across the north and as long as that happens it will keep the cold air to the north too allowing warmer air to flow into the area from the south.
Webb said some high mountains in the eastern and western U.S. have snow on them but that’s about it.
“As far any storms delivering snow, I don’t see anything of any significance across the country that will provide significant snow for Christmas,” Webb said.
The snow line is expected to continue to move north through Christmas Eve ending up on the U.S.-Canadian border.
Webb said the week is going to end the same way it began.
“It’s going to be basically what you have now–mild days, mainly dry. The next chance of rain, mainly light showers, is Thursday night or Friday. It looks the next significant chance of rain is probably going to hold off until early next week,” he said.
