WVU lands Virginia transfer offensive lineman Ja’Quay Hubbard

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The WVU coaching staff has secured a verbal commitment from Virginia transfer offensive lineman Ja’Quay Hubbard. Hubbard announced his intentions to join the Mountaineers on his Twitter site Monday afternoon.

Hubbard appeared in two games for the Cavaliers this past fall as a true freshman. Hubbard made his collegiate debut against Pittsburgh in UVA’s season opener. He also played against William & Mary. Hubbard retained his initial year of eligibility and will have four seasons left to play.

The 6-foot-5, 335-pound tackle is a native of Sharpsville, Pa. Hubbard was a two-time all-state offensive lineman at SHS and a finalist for Pennsylvania’s ‘Mr. Football’. He was listed as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com.

Hubbard joins former Troy punter Tyler Sumpter and former Arizona safety Scottie Young as transfers set to join the Mountaineers this fall.
