Conditioning window established for WVSSAC winter sports

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The preseason calendar for WVSSAC winter sports now includes a week for coaches to incorporate conditioning drills prior to the start of official practice.

Member schools were notified Friday that winter sports teams may begin conditioning under supervision of coaches on February 8. Official preseason practices will open February 15.

Also on February 15, spring and fall sports can open offseason weight training and conditioning drills.

The WVSSAC also announced that only schools that are open to in-person learning (blended or five days a week) will be able to practice or compete in games.

Attendance for winter sports will be made up of parents, grandparents and household family members for basketball and wrestling. Swim meet attendance will adhere to facility guidelines.
