CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Active cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia fell to its lowest level in nearly two months on Sunday.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) confirmed 9,615 cases in its daily report Sunday. Active coronavirus cases were at 9,357 on August 20, the lowest level since Sunday.
No new deaths were reported, according to the DHHR. There have been a total of 4,108 COVID related deaths.
Hospitalizations rose by two from Saturday to 787. There are 228 patients in the ICU and 156 patients on ventilators.
More than 57 percent of West Virginians over the age of 12 have been fully vaccinated. Nearly 66 percent have received at least one dose.
There have been more than 15,000 breakthrough cases, meaning those who tested positive for the virus after being fully vaccinated.
