More West Virginia football players bound for Division I schools as signing window opens

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The February National Signing Period for college football programs opened on Wednesday. Several West Virginia high school athletes recently signed letters of intent to compete at Division I programs.

Wheeling Central’s Ayden Baker (7)

Ayden Baker (Wheeling Central Catholic) – Signed with Columbia

  • Played tight end and defensive end for one season at Wheeling Central (2021)
  • 70 tackles (13 for loss), team-best 10.5 sacks, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble as a senior

Jacob Barrick (Martinsburg) – Signed with Jacksonville State

  • Tight End/Defensive End/Linebacker for 2021 Class AAA state champions
  • 38 receptions for 644 yards. 7 touchdowns, 60 tackles, 4 sacks and 1 interception in senior season

Xavier Bausley (South Charleston) – Signed with Jacksonville State

  • Lineman for 2020 Class AAA state champions
  • Second team Class AAA All-State selection as a senior

Doryn Smith (Martinsburg) – Signed with Cornell

  • Played one season at Salisbury School in Connecticut following graduation from Martinsburg
  • Member of 2019 Class AAA state championship team at MHS

Hudson Clement (Martinsburg) – Preferred walk-on at West Virginia

  • 2021 West Virginia MetroNews Player of the Year
  • 87 receptions for 1,708 yards and 23 touchdowns in his senior season
