HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Pleasant Valley Hospital will become part of the Mountain Health Network as part of an agreement with Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Mountain Health Network announced Thursday that the hospitals signed a letter of intent to expand the relationship, in which the decision is rooted in a 2013 management services agreement.
“Our goal is to ensure access to advanced medicine and compassionate care for all residents of Mason, Jackson, Gallia and Meigs counties,” Mountain Health CEO Kevin Yingling stated.
“Key to the acquisition is maintaining Pleasant Valley Hospital as an acute care hospital with emergency services. Thanks to the commitment of our academic medical center partner, increased access to medical specialties will be supported through Marshall Health and graduate medical education programs will be provided by Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Additionally, we plan to enhance telehealth services and connect PVH to our electronic health platform.”
Cabell Huntington Hospital will invest $25 million in Mason County, which will include upgrading Pleasant Valley Hospital’s technology platform; renovations to the emergency department; an investment in physician residency training programs with the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Marshall Health; and additional recruitment and renovation efforts.
The Pleasant Valley Hospital Board of Trustees plans to contribute an estimated $14 million toward capital improvement projects.
St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington is also a member of Mountain Health Network.
