MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s men’s basketball program announced a significant staff change Thursday evening, parting ways with associate head coach Larry Harrison.
Harrison had worked under Bob Huggins for Huggins’ entire tenure at West Virginia over the last 16 seasons. Harrison was associate head coach for the last 13 of those seasons.
“I want to thank Larry for his years of service to Mountaineer basketball, and I wish him well in his future endeavors,” Huggins said in a university release.
Harrison also previously spent eight seasons on Huggins’ staff at Cincinnati.
In between working under Huggins at Cincinnati and West Virginia, Harrison was the head coach of Hartford’s men’s basketball program for six seasons and then a scout for the Washington Wizards for one season.
Harrison was on the coaching staff for both of Huggins’ Final Four teams in 1992 at Cincinnati and 2010 at West Virginia.
West Virginia announced a search for Harrison’s replacement has immediately begun.
