HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall men’s basketball head coach Dan D’Antoni has announced the Herd’s first addition of the 2023 spring recruiting season — and it won’t likely be the last.
Cameron Crawford, a 6-foot-5 guard from Hoover, Alabama, has joined the Thundering Herd.
Crawford sat out this past season at Indiana State, before deciding to transfer at the end of the season.

During the 2021-22 season, Crawford played in 22 games for the Sycamores, averaging 3.1 points and two rebounds.
Crawford made five starts over those 22 appearances and averaged more than 12 minutes of action per game. He finished his lone season with Indiana State shooting 52 percent from the field (25 for 48) and made 11-of-26 triples.
Crawford originally signed with Indiana State out of Spain Park High School, where he averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals as a senior to go with 42 percent three-point shooting on a state semifinalist squad in Class 7A.
He was named by Alabama Sportswriters as an all-state second-team member that season.
In addition to no longer having the program’s all-time leading scorer around in versatile swingman Taevion Kinsey, Marshall is also looking for possible replacements for 7-1 freshman center Micah Handlogten, who transferred to Florida following one season with the Herd in which he earned Sun Belt Freshman Of the Year honors.
A combination of unsigned high school centers and college big men looking for a new home have made recruiting visits to Huntington in recent weeks.
Marshall signed two high school recruits last year for its incoming class — 6-3 point guard Ryan Nutter from Dublin, Ohio, and 6-4 shooting guard Kycen Pruett from Mount Dora, Florida.
