Parole officer sexually assaulted victims on multiple occasions

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — More information has come out about the disgraced parole officer sentenced for sexually assaulting a female officer.

Anthony DeMetro, 44, worked for the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation as a parole officer in Parkersburg. He admitted to forcing at least two victims into performing sex acts on him, this according to U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia Will Thompson.

Thompson spoke more to the details of the case and the sentencing while on MetroNews “Talkline” Friday.

“He essentially used his authority as parole officer to extort sex from at least one victim, and I believe we have a second victim.” Thompson said.

The attorney said these incidents happened more than once and they know about one occurrence that happened sometime in the middle of April two years ago.

“We are aware of at least five or six different instances,” he said. “That’s pretty shocking.”

Thompson also believes there may be more victims that come forward.

While in federal court in the Southern District of West Virginia Thursday, DeMetro was sentenced to 15 years, with five years of supervised release. He also has to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

According to Thompson, DeMetro on one occurrence showed up to a job site of one victim and harassing her.

“He was basically a monster,” Thompson said about DeMetro.

DeMetro isn’t the only one facing criminal action for the sexual assault. Thompson claims DeMetro’s supervisor was aware of the sexual assault and tried covering it up.

“We have another charge coming out of this where his supervisor was told by one of the parolees that he (DeMetro) was doing this, and he basically tried to sweep it under the rug,” said Thompson.
