The free event, set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,  includes giveaways, chances to win prizes, sports activities, and “Touch a Truck.”

Also included in the free event are scooter races, potato sack races, Pickelball, a basketball shootout, bounce houses provided by the Cheat Lake Rotary Club, and roller skating, but you must bring your own skates.

Mylan Park Coordinator of Community Events and Engagement Danielle Rudash said the event includes half-price swimming and special giveaways for early birds.

“Pro Performance will be there, and they’ll be providing some sports activities like a homerun derby and a football accuracy throw game,” Rudash said.

This year they’re welcoming a variety of community groups to provide local entertainment for all ages.

“There are going to be these performances that take place every half hour beginning at noon, so you won’t want to miss that,” Rudash said. “Different community groups are coming to show the community what they have and perform for our event.”

The Touch a Truck event is sponsored by Black Diamond Equipment Rental and gives kids a chance to “meet a hero” and get up close and personal with emergency vehicles and other pieces of large equipment.

“There will be a Touch a Truck, and that will be located outside the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center, and we have 10 or 15 vendors coming, so it’s going to be a fun-filled event,” Rudash said. “They each have a different vehicle that they’re bringing, and the kids get to climb in them.”

In addition to showing off the facility, the first 750 guests will be entered to win one of five grand prizes. There are three Sports Party Packages and two Summer Fun Zone Camp Passes.

“You have to get there early and get signed up—that’s how you get into that giveaway,” Rudash said.
