Delegate Warner decides against reelection to go ‘all-in’ for husband’s gubernatorial campaign

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Delegate Debbie Warner, R-Monongalia, has announced she will not run for re-election in 2024.

Warner, serving her first term in the House, said she intends “all-in” to help her husband, current Secretary of State Mac Warner, win the May primary and ultimately the November general election to be the next governor of West Virginia.

Delegate Warner said has committed to remaining fully engaged for the remainder of her term, representing residents in the 82nd District.

“I want to give the Republican Party and state leadership ample time to find quality candidates to represent this district and to run for the seat in 2024,” she said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of serving in the House of Delegates, and no doubt that experience will serve me well in the future.”

“I really enjoy representing District 82 in the West Virginia House of Delegates,” Warner continued. “I hope announcing my intentions early will inspire other conservative Republicans in my district to seek election to my position.”

If Mac Warner is elected to be the next governor, she believes her legislative experience will be an important asset to the future governor in building a strong working relationship with the state Senate and the House of Delegates.
