CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The group in charge of handing out up to $1 billion in opioid settlement funds in West Virginia remains without an executive director.
West Virginia First Foundation Chairman Matt Harvey announced during the foundation’s meeting Friday that the search continues.
“The Foundation was unable to come to terms with a previously identified candidate,” Harvey said.
He added there’s been a personnel committee formed that will work with the Attorney General’s Office in an effort to fill the position.
“Next week we’ll be coordinating with the Attorney General’s Office as was contemplated in the MOU to move forward in identifying another candidate,” Harvey said.
He did not announce the reasons they were unable to come to terms with their first identified candidate.
The foundation got an update on its current financial status Friday. It has more than $219 million in settlement money.
Also at Friday’s meeting, the board approved a public access policy.
The foundation set its next meeting for Feb. 16 when it will consider several Requests for Proposals for various services including banking. It also decided that beginning on March 7 it will meet the first Thursday of each month at 2 p.m.
