HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Two women are dead and the suspect in the fatal shootings has taken his own life.
Huntington Police (HPD) said they found Clyde Crawford, 52, of Huntington, along the banks of the Ohio River near McClelland Park in Huntington Friday afternoon. Officers said Crawford died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Crawford was identified as the suspect in a double fatal shooting from Thursday. Authorities had been searching for him since that evening.
The victims, Sharon Crawford, 51, and Alexis B. Beard, 26, were shot at a residence in the 2700 block of North Staunton Road at around 5:40 p.m. Sharon was Clyde Crawford’s wife.
Police said one of them died at the scene, the second woman died at the hospital. A 20-month-old girl also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. HPD said she is at a local hospital in stable condition.
West Virginia State Police, the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department, the A.T.F, and the West Virginia Division of Corrections Probation and Parole Service all assisted in the investigation.
