Charleston Police investigate Kanawha City deadly crash

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — A woman is dead from a single-vehicle crash in Kanawha City.

Dispatchers said a vehicle traveling southbound on 35th Street toward MacCorkle Avenue hit a large pile of gravel and “caught air” Friday just before 3 p.m.

The Charleston Police Department identified the driver of the vehicle as Wilma Ellis, 82, of Charleston. She was transported to CAMC Memorial hospital where she later died from her injuries sustained in the crash.

No other vehicles were involved.

The crash remains under investigation by The Charleston Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the crash.
