Carbon Monoxide scare at Braxton County hotel

GASSAWAY, W.Va. — One person remained hospitalized Sunday evening after a gas leak and carbon monoxide scare at a Braxton County motel.

Braxton County 911 told MetroNews the initial call came from a guest room at the Microtel Inn in Gassaway at around 2 a.m. Sunday  The calls continued from several other guests. Sixty-eight people were impacted, dispatchers said. 

Braxton County ambulances transported six people to be examined at Braxton County Memorial Hospital. Only one person was still in the hospital as of Sunday evening. 

Firefighters were back at the hotel Sunday afternoon for additional testing. The Braxton County Health Department is also part of the response and investigation.
