Dunlow VFD back in service

DUNLOW, W.Va. — A Wayne County volunteer fire department is back up and running now after having to close last week due to workers’ compensation issues.

The Dunlow Volunteer Fire Department is back to servicing calls now after the recent closure.

The closure was due to the failure on the departments’ behalf of submitting the required paperwork to their insurance providers.

State VFDs are required to maintain a valid workers’ compensation policy for all of its members.

There was no loss in service coverage during the departments’ closure as all emergency call were handled by neighboring fire departments in the area.
