Shooting impacts Elkins Police Department

ELKINS, W.Va. — The Randolph County Sheriff’s is expressing condolences to the Elkins Police Dept. after a fatal shooting that happened Friday.

A news release said deputies responded to Route 33 near Eagles Nest Road after getting a call about a suspicious vehicle.

Deputies found a window shot out. They said the person inside the vehicle didn’t survive.

The sheriff’s office didn’t name the victim but indicated he was a member of the Elkins PD.

“The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office would like to express our sincere sympathy, condolences and prayers to the family and friends of our lost brother and to the Elkins Police Department during this tragic time,” the sheriff’s department said.
