MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s help in tracking down a suspect they say emptied the cash register and stole cigarettes at the Marlowe 7-Eleven then fled on foot.

The robbery occurred early Tuesday morning. Deputies were dispatched just before 1 a.m. to the store at 8949 Williamsport Pike.

The suspect is described as a white man, 35 to 40 years of age last seen wearing a hoodie and dressed in black.

Investigators believe the suspect entered the store at about 12:55 a.m. walked around  “for several minutes” and then went to the counter with merchandise.

“As the clerk rang up the merchandise, the suspect jumped over the counter and pushed the clerk to the side,” according to the press release. “The suspect retrieved all of the money out of the register and placed the money in his pocket. The suspect grabbed several packs of cigarettes and then left the store.”

Martinsburg Police Department Corporal Condo and K-9 Ryker responded to the scene to track the suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Funk (CID) with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department at 304-267-7000
