Justice gives state workers extra time off for Thanksgiving

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State workers will have extra time off for Thanksgiving.

Gov. Jim Justice announced during his Tuesday media briefing that Wednesday will only be a half-day of work and Friday will be a day off following Thanksgiving Day.

“They’ll have a long weekend,” Justice said. “These people do an incredible job and they’re not paid that much. They do great, great, great work for us every day.”

Justice took similar action last year.

Justice urged state residents to count their blessings during the next few days and also think about others.

“Please reach out a helping hand. It’s a time of year for family. It’s a time of year that we don’t want anyone lonely. If there’s anything that you can for someone please do it and do it at Thanksgiving,” Justice said.
