CLARKSBURG, W. Va. – A Michigan man has been sentenced to nearly 23 years in federal prison for leading a drug trafficking organization in Harrison County.
Emmitt Renard Richardson, 53, conspired with others to sell methamphetamine and fentanyl in the Harrison County area.
Richardson was convicted last September of multiple methamphetamine and fentanyl charges. Officials said Richardson has a history of drug related convictions and was operating under an alias.
“Richardson’s ability to sell deadly poison to our community has come to an end,” U.S. Attorney Matthew Harvey said. “Because of the great work of our drug task force, a jury found him guilty and now he will spend more than two decades in prison.”
The Greater Harrison County Drug Task Force investigated Richardson and the operation centered in Clarksburg for the last year. During that time investigators said Richardson sold drugs on city streets and from several residences. Investigators estimate Richardson sold nearly two kilograms of methamphetamine and more than three grams of fentanyl in the area.
A co-defendant, Randy Joe Jones, has been sentenced to 11 years to federal prison. Two other defendants will be sentenced at a later date.
