Congressional incumbents Carol Miller and Riley Moore, both Republicans, will again lead their party banners into the general election.
Of the two, only Miller faced a primary challenger. Decision Desk called that race in her favor.
Miller, who represents West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, assumed office on Jan. 3, 2023. Her current term ends on Jan. 3, 2027.
Her Republican primary opponent this election cycle was Larry Jackson.
Between the Democratic candidates in the race, Vince George defeated Brit Aguirre — so George will be the challenger to Miller.
Moore, who represents the northern counties in West Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, assumed office on Jan. 3, 2025. His current term ends on Jan. 3, 2027.
He was unopposed in the Republican primary election.
“I’m just going to continue what I’ve been doing, and that’s working hard for West Virginia,” Moore said during MetroNews election night coverage.
Before being elected to Congress, Moore served as the state treasurer and, before that, as a delegate from Jefferson County.
The Democrats competing for the seat included Ace Parsi, Stephanie Spears Tomana and Steve Wendelin.
Parsi was the winner and will face Moore in the general election.
