For college basketball coaches, the task of rebuilding rosters hardly stops.
That reality continued over the weekend for both Marshall hoops programs.
The Thundering Herd men added to their backcourt depth with the commitments of junior college guard Alex Charlotin and Pacific University guard Emmanuel Manyoun.
On the women’s side, Marshall also gained a guard in Princess Cassell, who comes from California State San Bernardino, a Division II program.
Charlotin is 6-foo-4 with a 6-9 wing span and hails from Sainte Marthe Sur Le Lac, Quebec. He played last season as a freshman at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa, and has three years of eligibility remaining.
He played in only 17 games for the Panthers due to inury and averaged 15.9 points along with 3.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists. Charlotin shot north of 58 percent from the field, but struggled from the free-throw line with a percentage of 53.1.
Manyoun is a 6-2 guard from Austin, Minnesota transferring to Marshall from Pacific.
Manyoun had limited playing time last season with the Tigers. He appeared in 14 games, scored seven points and recorded two steals across a total of 41 minutes.
Cassell stands 5-9 and the Eastvale, California native has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
She started 24 games last season and averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and nearly two steals on the way to earning first-team All-California Community College Athletic Association honors.
Cassell shot nearly 74 percent on free throws for a team that struggled to a 12-15 record.
