SALEM, W.Va. — State police have made arrests after finding drugs, paraphernalia, and an explosive device during a routine traffic stop Wednesday.
Troopers stopped a car driven by Mary Cassell on West Main Street due to a defective registration light.
Troopers then learned the passenger, Gerald Williams had a warrant for his arrest. Troopers also learned Cassell was driving with a suspended license and had no insurance.
After receiving consent to search the vehicle troopers discovered a bag that contained a marijuana smoking device and a container containing a white substance that field tested positive as meth. Troopers also located a CO2 canister with a fuse attached to it. Troopers said Williams told them the cannister was filled with black powder.
Cassell and Williams have been charged with possession of an explosive device and are being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
