CHARLESTON, W.Va – A Fayette County man facing more than ten criminal charges in Kanawha County will not go on trial this week as scheduled.
Brian Parker, 44, of Deep Water, appeared before Kanawha County Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey on Monday, and Bailey granted a motion to continue his trial because his attorney, Mark Plants, was recently appointed. Plants stated before the court he was not prepared to go to trial as scheduled on Monday.
The new trial is on the docket for November 16, with a pretrial hearing set on November 4. Parker pleaded not guilty in March to eight counts of second-degree sexual assault and three counts of kidnapping.
In addition to the continuance, Parker requested his bond be reduced from $500,000 to $250,000. That motion was denied.
