Joshua Deel, 39, of Lesage, was arrested on three counts of murder for the July 21 deaths of his ex-wife Shawn Deel, 39, and her teenage children, Abigaile Sloan, 18, and Dekota Sloan, 16.

Deputies responded to the Deel residence at around 5 a.m. on July 21, discovering three people stabbed to death and Joshua Deel also suffering from injuries. He was initially hospitalized, then after investigators cased the scene and questioned witnesses, he was charged with the three killings.

Deel’s case will now go to a Cabell County Grand Jury in the coming weeks.

Funeral services for Abigale and Dekota were held Thursday. Shawn’s funeral is scheduled for Friday in Huntington.
