4 inches of rain in Mercer County causes flooding

SPANISHBURG, W.Va. — Localized heavy downpours could cause additional flooding in parts of West Virginia Monday according to the National Weather Service.

High water was reported along the Bluestone River Sunday night into Monday morning after four inches of rain fell in parts of western Mercer County. There was flooding reported in Spanishburg.

A cold front was expected to move slowly across the state Monday creating with it the chance for scattered showers. Warmer temperatures are in the forecast beginning Tuesday which will create a chance for thunderstorms during the afternoons and evenings.
