WVU BOG to discuss futures of Montgomery, Beckley campuses Tuesday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University Board of Governors will talk about the futures of WVU Beckley and WVU Tech at a special meeting scheduled for Tuesday in Morgantown.

The agenda, released Friday, includes an executive session and possible discussion after the executive session.

WVU finalized the $8 million purchase of the former Mountain State University in Beckley earlier this year. It plans to begin offering classes in the fall 2016 semester. The purchase immediately raised concerns in Montgomery, the home of WVU Tech, because of the campus’ close proximity to Beckley.

Some elected officials in Fayette County have criticized WVU for not being more public with its future plans for Tech.

Tuesday’s special meeting will begin at noon.
