JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Thousands of CSX employees are waiting to see the impact of a company announcement made earlier this week concerning the reduction of 1,000 management employees.
Most of the impacted workers are based at CSX headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla., company officials said. The reduction is taking place through an involuntary separation program that will be completed by the end of March.
“A majority of those impacted employees are in Jacksonville across multiple locations and subsidiaries but affected employees also are in our field organization. We will not know who will be impacted until reviews of our headquarters and field organizations are complete,” a CSX spokesperson told MetroNews Friday.
CSX has 27,000 workers. In January 2016, it announced the closing of its division and administrative offices in Huntington. The move impacted 121 train dispatchers, yardmasters, clerks and signal workers. The company blamed that move on the downturn in coal.
