Miller announces US Congress bid

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — West Virginia House of Delegates Majority Whip Carol Miller announced Thursday she is running for U.S. Congress.

Miller, a Cabell County Republican, is running for the 3rd District Congressional seat and to replace U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., who is running for U.S. Senate.

Miller has served in the House of Delegates since January 2007. She serves on the Agriculture and Natural Resources, Finance, House Rules and Small Business and Economic Development committees.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio, and is a graduate of Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina.

West Virginia Delegate Rupie Phillips, R-Logan, and former Delegate Rick Snuffer of Raleigh County are also campaigning for the Republican nomination.

Huntington Mayor Steve Williams, West Virginia Sen. Richard Ojeda, D-Logan, and Tri-State Transit Authority CEO Paul Davis have announced they will run as Democrats.
