Man charged in Parkersburg bank robbery

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Police in Parkersburg arrested a man Tuesday just a few minutes after he allegedly robbed a bank in the city.

Jeremy Cheeseman is charged with robbery.

Jeremy Lane Cheeseman, 29, of Parkersburg, was arrested near the intersection of state Route 95 and Rayon Drive about 35 minutes after it was reported a man fitting his description robbed the Williamstown Bank branch on Seventh Street, Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said.

Cheeseman allegedly entered the bank at just before noon and told the teller to give him money. He kept his hands inside his jacket pockets, Martin said.

The vehicle police believed Cheeseman was in was pulled over by a member of the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force and a Wood County sheriff’s deputy.

Cheeseman is in the North Central Regional Jail on $400,000 bail.
