Search continues for additional human remains in Mercer County

OAKVALE, W.Va. — State police used a helicopter Monday afternoon in their search for human remains in the southeastern portion of Mercer County.

Initial remains were found last Thursday night but an additional search of the area has produced more remains, troopers said.

What’s been collected thus far has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for possible identification.

State police have also used cadaver dogs in the search.

Troopers are being assisted by Mercer County sheriff’s deputies.
