Clarksburg names new police chief

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A former Clarksburg police officer is returning to the department to become its chief.

Mark Kiddy

Mark Kiddy was named to the position Friday. He’ll begin the job Oct. 21.

Kiddy was a member of the CPD from 1986 to 1998. He then took a job with the West Virginia State Police where he eventually became a detachment commander.

Kiddy said he’s excited to return to Clarksburg.

“Clarksburg is where I started my law enforcement career. It is good to come full circle and return to my roots,” he said in a news release. “I recognize the vitality of having a strong police-community relationship and consider the safety of the community of Clarksburg a top priority.”

Interim Clarksburg City Manager Annette Wright said Kiddy will be a great fit for Clarksburg.

“He is capable of addressing the many issues and challenges the city faces,” Wright said.

Kiddy also served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
