Woman killed in Charleston fire

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A woman died in an apartment fire Monday in Charleston.

The incident happened before 8:45 p.m. at the Charleston Arbors apartment complex in the 100 block of Washington Street East. Authorities identified the victim as female.

The fire was contained to one unit. Firefighters said smoke went to upper-level floors.

Two other people were taken to the hospital and released.
