Suspect named in Beckley bank robbery

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Police have identified a suspect in connection to a downtown bank robbery earlier this week.

Brian Darell Ruffin, 34, of Beckley, is wanted for the Monday morning robbery of the City National Bank on South Kanawha Street.

According to investigators, Ruffin was the person who entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. He was given approximately $6,000 in cash and fled from the scene on a mountain bike. No one was injured and no weapon was seen during the incident.

Police later recovered the bike, a backpack and a Halloween-style mask that was used during the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the location of Ruffin is asked to contact the Beckley Police Department or Crime Stoppers of WV.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, Raleigh County Adult Probation, West Virginia State Police, the West Virginia Division of Forestry, the WVU Tech Police Department, and the U.S. Marshal Service are assisting in the investigation.
