Logan legend Mark Hatcher passes away at 66

A Logan High School legend has passed away.

Mark Hatcher, 66, died Sunday of a sudden illness.

A two-time all-state basketball player at Logan High School in 1970 and 1971, Hatcher went on to play at Virginia Tech.

He led Logan to a Class AAA runner-up season in 1970 as the Wildcats fell to Parkersburg in the title game.

The following season, Hatcher averaged 24 points per game and was one of eight players on the Class AAA all-state first-team.

Hatcher, a Monaville native, was a physical education teacher in Logan County Schools for more than 30 years.
