No charges in Taylor County shooting death

FLEMINGTON, W.Va. — The Taylor County sheriff says he believes a Flemington woman acted in self-defense when she shot and killed a man Sunday.

Sheriff Terry Austin said Amanday Sally Larew, 38, appears to have been protecting herself when she shot Ronnie Lee Johnson, 33, of Anmore.

Police found Johnson dead of a gunshot wound to the chest Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Sand Ridge Road home of Larew. Reports indicate Larew and Johnson had been romantically involved.

Larew currently does not face charges, Austin said.

State police are continuing their investigation.
