Johnny Williams IV becomes second offensive lineman in WVU’s Class of 2023

MORGANTOWN. W.Va. — West Virginia’s verbal commitment list for their Class of 2023 has nearly tripled in size over the last six days. Offensive lineman Johnny Williams IV became the 17th commitment in next year’s class on Tuesday afternoon. He is also the second offensive lineman in the group. Six players have committed since last Thursday.

Williams IV plays for Northeast High School in Macon, Georgia. Northeast went 9-4 in the 2021 season and they advanced to the Georgia Class AA state quarterfinals. Williams IV is the third player from the state of Georgia to commit to WVU in this cycle. Defensive lineman Justin Benton and running back Jordan Louie also hail from Georgia.

Williams IV is a 6-foot-7, 315-pound tackle. He received a scholarship offer from West Virginia on May 3, 2021. Williams IV also holds scholarship offers from Alabama State, Arizona State, Boston College, Duke, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Jackson State, Miami, North Carolina State, Oregon, Syracuse, Virginia and Western Kentucky.
