Deadly accident in Putnam County

HURRICANE, W.Va. — One person is dead following a single-car crash on Route 34 in Putnam County Monday morning near Hurricane.

Emergency dispatchers say the car slammed into a bridge near the Silver Dollar Bar at about 11:30 a.m. The victim died at the scene.

Police stopped traffic on Route 34 as part of their investigation. The accident scene is near the intersection with U.S. Route 60.
