Mother charged in stabbing of teenage daughter

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred earlier this week.

Officers said it happened at around 9 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on Cobun Ave.

Police said when they arrived a woman immediately admitted to stabbing her 17-year-old daughter. The teenager was transported to WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Police said the girl is in the care of Child Protective Services her mother has been charged with child abuse resulting in injury and malicious or unlawful assault.

The mother’s name has not been released.

Morgantown police are continuing their investigation.
